Operativa é orgogliosa di presentare Dy Yiayi, prima mostra personale di Cleo Fariselli negli spazi della galleria. Dy Yiayi è la misteriosa iscrizione sul campanello dello studio abitato dall’artista durante i mesi di creazione della mostra. 
 Nella lettura reiterata della frequentazione quotidiana, la scritta diviene un suono ipnotico, familiare e al tempo stesso arcano, un mantra e una password per accedere al particolare spazio-tempo delle opere. 
 La galleria viene trasformata da Cleo Fariselli in un ideale prosieguo e trasposizione di queste stanze private. Velata da un filtro dai toni rosati, l’ingresso vetrato della galleria si tramuta in un’ideale grande palpebra socchiusa. All’interno, alcuni iconici elementi d’arredo contribuiscono alla creazione di un ambiguo senso di straniante domesticità. Tale sensazione è ulteriormente alimentata da un canto femminile durante un bagno proveniente dal piano interrato a cui è impossibile accedere; sognante ed auto-riferita, l’installazione sonora è ispirata alla figura mitica di Melusina. Nella prima sala troviamo la serie di sculture Senza titolo, realizzate in ceramica con la tecnica del raku giapponese. L’apparente spontaneità delle forme, ispirate a concrezioni naturali di conchiglie e rocce laviche, si accresce quando, ad uno sguardo più approfondito, si scopre che le parti cave delle opere riproducono i volumi di porzioni del corpo dell’artista. Concepite come dei dispositivi di visione, le sculture invitano ad essere esplorate con lo sguardo come fossero ambienti. Nella seconda sala troviamo la tenda/scultura Cleo trattenuta a terra da tre teste addormentate, realizzate con l’antica tecnica della scagliola carpigiana. Tratte da un calco del volto dell’artista all’età di 17 anni, le sculture sono la traccia di un tempo lontano, simbolo e cristallizzazione di un momento chiave della sua vita. Pur nascendo da due tecniche che affondano la loro tradizione nel XVI secolo, raku e scagliola sono usate da Cleo Fariselli in modo libero da ogni retorica, strumentali all’esplorazione di un immaginario personale e contemporaneo. Chiude la mostra Edda: scultura/installazione in 4 parti che ritrae una misteriosa creatura acquatica che pare emergere dal pavimento, rendendolo idealmente liquido. Come fosse la punta di un iceberg, l’opera riverbera oltre i suoi confini visibili creando l’impressione di un prosieguo indefinitamente esteso nel sottosuolo. All’ingresso della mostra un testo, scritto dall’artista, guida il visitatore in una visita preferibilmente solitaria.

Cleo Fariselli (Cesenatico, 1982) vive e lavora a Milano e Torino. 
 Nata in una famiglia di musicisti, intraprende studi di teatro per poi laurearsi, nel 2007, all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Completa la sua istruzione con workshop tenuti da Jimmie Durham (Fondazione Ratti, Como), Rirkrit Tiravanija (Domus Academy, Venezia) Liliana Moro e the Otolith group (Fondazione Spinola Banna, Torino. È artista in residenza alla Dena Foundation a Parigi (2009) e a BAR project a Barcellona (2013). È finalista dei premi Museion Prize 1, Museion, Bolzano; Women to Watch, NMWA, Washington; 5x5 Castellò Award, EACC, Castellò; Ariane De Rothschild Prize, Palazzo Reale, Milano. 
 Le recenti mostre personali includono Calipso, Clima gallery, Milano; Serpenti nelle grondaie, GAFF, Milano; U., Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, Milano; Samus Viridis X-9, Espacio Sant Pere, Barcellona. Operativa is proud to present Dy Yiayi, the first solo show by Cleo Fariselli in the gallery space. Dy Yiayi is the mysterious inscription on the doorbell in the studio where the artist lived while she was realising the exhibition. 
 In everyday diction, the inscription becomes an hypnotic, familiar, yet arcane sound, a mantra and a password to access the peculiar space-time of the works. Cleo Fariselli transforms the gallery into an ideal hereinafter and transposition of these private rooms. Veiled by a rose-tone filter, the gallery glass entrance turns into a great ideal ajar eyelid. On the inside, a few iconic furniture pieces help creating an ambiguous sense of off-putting domesticity. 
 Such sensation is further nourished by a feminine bathing song, coming from downstairs, which is impossible to enter; dreamy and selfreferenced, the audio installation was inspired by the mythical character Melusina. In the first room sits the Untitled sculpture series, obtained through the raku Japanese technique for ceramic. The apparent spontaneity of shapes, inspired by natural concretions of shells and lava rock, grows when, to a closer look, the notches on the works turn out to recall the volumes of proportions of the artist’s body. Conceived as devices of vision, the sculptures are inviting to be explored by gaze as if they were environments. In the second room sits the curtain/sculpture Cleo, kept on the ground by three asleep heads, obtained through the ancient technique of scagliola carpigiana. Drawn after a cast of the artist’s face at 17, the sculptures are a mark from a faraway time, symbolising and crystallising a key moment in her life. Though deriving from two techniques that lay their tradition in the 16th Century, Cleo Fariselli uses raku and scagliola free from any rhetoric, as a key to explore a personal and contemporary imaginary. Closing the exhibition there’s Edda: a sculpture/installation in four parts depicting a mysterious water creature that seems to be rising from the floor, making it ideally liquid. As if it were the tip of the iceberg, the artwork reverberates beyond its visual limits, raising the impression of a hereinafter indefinitely extended in the underground. At the entrance, a text written by the artist guides the viewer through the visit, preferably to be conducted alone.

Cleo Fariselli (Cesenatico, 1982) lives and works in Milan and Turin. Born in a family of musicians and coming from studies of Theatre, she received her Degree from Brera Academy in 2007. She completed her education 
 attending workshops held by Jimmie Durham (Ratti Foundation, Como), Rirkrit Tiravanija (Domus Academy, Venice), Liliana Moro and The Otolith Group (Spinola Banna Foundation, Turin).
